Clothing & Apparel FAQs

Pricing & Costs

How much does custom branded apparel cost?

Pricing runs by piece and method. Embroidered polos (minimum 12) run $28–$45/shirt, screen-printed t-shirts (minimum 24) run $14–$22/shirt, embroidered hoodies and jackets run $45–$110/piece, and a hi-vis workwear program runs $28–$65/piece. A full crew launch for 10 techs head-to-toe — polos, tees, hoodies, hats, hi-vis, jackets, logo digitized, all sizes stocked — runs $4,500–$9,000 one-time.

What factors determine the price per item?

Decoration method (embroidery costs more than screen print but holds up better on polos and jackets), garment weight and quality, and order quantity all move the price. We match the method to the garment rather than using the cheapest method across the board.

Is artwork setup or digitization included?

Yes. Your logo is digitized once, professionally, and the file is stored for every future run — you don't pay a setup fee again on reorders.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

Yes, but kept reasonable — embroidered polos start at a minimum of 12, screen-printed tees at a minimum of 24. We won't force a 100-piece order on a 6-person shop.

Service Areas

Where do you provide clothing and apparel services?

Toughjobs builds branded apparel programs for trade contractors across the Midwest.

Timeline & Completion

How long does it take to design and produce custom apparel?

Standard turnaround is 2–3 weeks from artwork approval.

Can you meet a specific event, season, or employee start date?

Often, yes. Rush orders (7–10 days) are usually possible with a surcharge, and for ongoing programs we recommend keeping a small reserve of common sizes on hand so new hires can be outfitted same-day.*

Do you offer rush apparel production?

Yes. Rush orders (7–10 days) are usually possible with a surcharge on top of the standard 2–3 week turnaround.

* Estimated. Current workload and holiday scheduling can shift these dates — we'll confirm exact timing on your call.

Getting Started

How do I get started with a custom apparel order?

Talk to us about your market — no pitch, just a straight read on what would actually move the needle for your business.

Can you help me choose the right garment and decoration method?

Yes. We match embroidery, screen printing, or DTF transfer to the specific garment and use — embroidery for polos, jackets, and hats; screen printing for high-volume tees and hoodies; DTF for smaller runs, complex color, and hi-vis where embroidery would compromise reflectivity.

What's Included

What is included with your clothing and apparel service?

Full apparel programs — polos, hoodies, hats, hi-vis, jackets — designed, sourced, and delivered, covering everyday uniform pieces, outerwear and seasonal layers, and safety or job-site gear.

Do you provide both the garments and the decoration?

Yes. Garment sourcing and decoration (embroidery, screen printing, or DTF, whichever fits the piece) are both part of the program.

Who It's For

Can you produce employee uniforms and workwear?

Yes — that's the core of the service: everyday uniform polos and shirts, seasonal outerwear, and hi-vis or safety gear for job sites.

Can you handle both small and large orders?

Yes. Minimums are kept reasonable for a small crew (12 polos, 24 tees), and a full 10-tech crew launch is a standard package.

Our Process

How do you recommend screen printing, embroidery, heat transfer, or another method?

Embroidery for polos, jackets, and hats — premium look, durable, ideal for logos. Screen printing for high-volume t-shirts and hoodies — sharp color, cost-effective at scale. DTF transfers for smaller runs, complex color, and hi-vis where embroidery would compromise reflectivity. We pick the right method per garment, not the cheapest one across the board.

Customization & Options

What types of shirts, jackets, hats, uniforms, and accessories are available?

Embroidered polos and work shirts, hoodies, softshells, insulated jackets, beanies, and hi-vis vests and shirts for job-site and road work.

Can each item include an employee name, number, title, or location?

Yes. The standard setup is company logo on the left chest with the tech's name on the opposite side.

Can you match my brand colors?

Yes — apparel is built as part of your coordinated brand system, so logos match your trucks, yard signs, and print collateral rather than looking like a different company.

Can you source durable workwear, performance apparel, or specialty garments?

Yes. We advise on garment brand and weight so shirts don't fade or pill after a handful of washes, and we stock ANSI-rated hi-vis gear where the job requires it.

Revisions & Changes

Can I reorder the same design later?

Yes. Your logo file is stored after the first digitization, and reorder turnaround runs 2–3 weeks for new hires and replacements.

Contact & Next Steps

Materials, Sizes & Production

What is the difference between screen printing, embroidery, and heat transfer?

Embroidery gives a premium, durable look best for polos, jackets, and hats. Screen printing gives sharp color and is cost-effective at scale for high-volume t-shirts and hoodies. DTF (direct-to-film) transfers suit smaller runs, complex color logos, and hi-vis pieces where embroidery would compromise reflectivity.

File Formats & Usage Rights

Will you keep the artwork and setup files for reorders?

Yes. Your logo is digitized once and the file is stored for every future run, so reorders don't require redoing setup.
